Hi, here's my first go at building a Construct 2 (hybrid game app creation program) memory match template. I decided that I wanted to create many different versions to see which topics get the most popular so that I would spend more time developing the popular ones. So, which theme do you like the most?
Please try them all and let me know what you think. Or, maybe just 1-3 of the most interesting ones to you.

Results so far:
- Wildlife theme has the highest amount of downloads.
- Colors theme has second highest amount of downloads.
- Color names theme has second lowest amount of downloads.
- Roman numerals theme has the lowest amount of downloads. (Sidenote: These cards took the longest to create also, so good thing I didn't make more)
- My favorite, "Memory Match 3", is getting close to 100 downloads
This information could be good for any of your app that you may want to theme. Seems like people prefer the basics of wildlife and colors, rather than things that require more thinking like color names and roman numerals.. And, I have about 10 different versions that I need to organize.

Experience Publishing to Different App Platforms
Q: How do you gain experience in publishing apps to a certain platform?

I don't think anybody actually asks the second question (but I just did!). Anyways, after the first few publishes, programmers/hackers get tired of the same routines. Our jobs are basically to automate things and makes things easier!
So, that's what I did and am doing. I'm starting to automate the entire process of publishing an app. There is this great tool that is a high-level scripting language called AutoHotkey. With it, I can easily open any program programatically, and send any keyboard and mouse commands that I want to the program. Basically, a macro builder for the entire end-user operating system.
About half of the process is automated now. I'm about halfway to my personal goal of 100 apps. My goal would be to make the entire process from app file to publish a one-click process. I know it's possible, and it'll be fun to build.
Once the process is all automated, I can be free to forget the process and start thinking of other abstractions to make.

Dan vs Phases of Matter
Assume for a moment that we don't take for granted everything we learned in school.
Today's post is about the different phases of matter and mainly their reaction of going from one to another.
Coming from a naive perspective, isn't it weird how a liquid state can just go to a gas state in our everyday lives? (E.g. boiling liquid water on a stove) Would it not make more sense if there was more of a gradual change from liquid to gas, rather than just directly? It seems to not be a slow enough change, how science has defined it in classes.

Dan Vs Meatball Subs

I had a revelation today.
I thought I liked meatball subs that I got from sub places (e.g. Subway). But, as I was making my own homemade version, I figured out that the main reason I like it so much is because it is cleverly disguised as a pizza sub!
After-the-fact, this is now really obvious. A pizza in any form is still pizza, a delicious meal. Sub shops can sell two different names, but deliver the same product.

Arguing Versus Debating
(These two words may be synonyms at a basic level, but can mean two different things.)
It is useless to have two different words mean the exact same thing.
Typically, there are different levels of meaning (i.e., big vs huge vs gargantuan). But, unfortunately, it takes a long time to learn the specific differences/intricacies between all of the words we use. So, in order for us to better communicate our thoughts to one another, I write this post. Here is goes:
Here's my common definitions for "arguing":
- At a rudimentary level, "complaining for the sake of it".
- At a basic level, "explaining, using logical fallacies".
- From a chess perspective, "perfectly symmetrical debating that has stalemated 5+ moves ago (think: KvK)".
Here's my common definitions for "debating":
- At an elementary level, "listing pros and cons"
- At a fundamental level, "two sides taking turns, presenting their ideas to the other. Typically has an outcome."
- From a military/infantry perspective, "arguing in the form of bounding overwatch, where progress is achieved."
If you have any comments about arguing versus debating, then I'd like to hear you in the comments below.

Infinity Universe
I can only conclude that the universe has always been. I'll provide the argument from two different perspectives in this post - from the science side and from the religion side.
Science:
The major contender is the Big Bang Theory. If that were the case, then eventually more scientists will start asking what caused the big bang? And, what came before that?
There will always be cyclic thinking that something always came before. Ergo, the universe has always been around in some form [as far as we know/believe].
Religion: (most theism should fit)
The universe is basically defined as everything/totality (sidenote: a universe of multiverse, paradox?). So, whenever there was a deity, there was also a universe. Most religions believe that their deity has always been. Thus, the universe has always been [as far as we know/believe].
I'd be happy to hear more academic dialog about this. Just let me know in the comments.

Cleanliness: Grass versus Concrete
Is laying on grass more sanitary than laying on concrete?

ps - I had another sentence that stated my conclusion, but my posts are [typically] different from other blogs. For other blogs, you can just read them and say "okay", then move on. For many of my posts, they just state a few things or a new perspective and I leave the ability to further expand the readers mind up to the reader. I know many people want quick wins, but in the long run people (IMHO) need to be able think for themselves and always be doing so.
Concrete may be easier to wash off the surface (via rain) and grass/ground may more easily absorb things on it.
Regardless, people [mostly] rather lay on random grass than lay on random concrete.

Normative
(This is an entry that I made for my Social Psychology class that I'm currently taking. Feel free to reply to the topic also.)
When I learn of something that "everybody does" I may tend to not do, just to be different. Ex: When there is a loud noise, most people look in that direction. I may continue what I was doing or look in the opposite direction. Ex: When people are walking and remember they have to go the other way, many will check the time or look at their phone [read: to put on a show for others in case they are watching]. I just seemingly "randomly" turn around now after learning that.
And there are at least two other big things, but I can't think of them right now. So, in the meantime, here's some things off the top of my head that exemplify resisting to social norms.
- Sitting in different places in class most days
- Sitting sideways rather than perpetually facing forwards
- Ethnicity: Half-Japanese, but not caring much for sushi or anime.
- Race: Being half-Japanese, but not looking the part.
Examples of how I accommodate social norms:
- Gender: Not wearing skirts. Having very short hair.
- Class: I generally "act" "average". (This example accounts for 100s or 1000s of day-to-day activities performed)

Procrastination Hack: Think With Your Future Self
The present you and the future you are two different people. The future self has more experiences than your present self.
It is easy to think with your present self, and that's what most people do.
But, consider this, your future self:
So which self would you rather think with?

Now, to tie this with a practical example -- the procrastination hack part.

What would your future self say at the present moment?
What does your present self want to do right now? Social media? YouTube?
What would your future wish you did right now? Learning? Went out with friends?
Remember, your future self will always be smarter than your present self. So, go ahead and raise your IQ, live a better life by thinking with your future self.

Food is Memory
Computer literate people will know that there are many different levels of computer memory -- more than just RAM and hard drives. As I was preparing my after-dinner snack (delicious Churros cereal), I thought that the food that I eat and have in my apartment is highly analogous to memory in a computer. I will succinctly explain the analogy from fastest to slowest memory.
Registers - Chewed food, ready for consumption
L1 Cache - Food in mouth
L2 Cache - Food in spoon
GPU - Food in bowl (Either eaten one spoonful at a time or gulping it down(parallel processing))
RAM - Food in box
Flash - Food in my room
Solid-state drive (SSD) - Food in the pantry
Hard drive - Food at the grocery store
Tape - Wherever food is before the stores
Cloud - Food that is still on the farm

App to Clipboard Multiple Items
I may have mentioned this before, but just now I thought of a good way to do this on a desktop computer. If there is anybody else who would like to save multiple items to their clipboard, then please email me or contact me via Google Plus.
I believe this can help me while programming, and I'm sure there are other uses for it too.
The first version would just have the ability to copy different text to multiple clipboards, then future versions would have the ability to save anything.

Your Way Is The Best Way
My way of doing things is better than your way. But, your way of doing things is better than mine.
What does that mean?
When people use their survivalist instincts, they will do things the best way they know how. ("Best" is a very opinionated word and will mean different things to different people.) So, until they hear/understand another method, everybody should be able to say to themselves that they know best.
But, remember.. there is always a better idea out there.
It should be a goal for everybody to understand different ways to accomplish tasks. The way to find out about different methods is to talk to others or read. Only then can you truly say your way is the best way.

Quick Math - Apps and Ideas
tl;dr - Just skim the bullet points.
Just a quick look around on Google Search and I see that there are currently around 600,000 apps available in Google Play. (I don't include iOS apps because same apps are double counted for the iPad versions, so there are actually much less apps there.)
Now, anybody can see that there are multiple apps for every function that you want an app to perform. I will be lenient and say that there is on average 100 apps for every idea/function. Ex: 100 note-taking apps, 100 camera apps, 100 unit converters, flashlights, Angry Birds.. Some have less, some have many more repeats.
There's got to be more ideas, I'm sure we'll come up with them soon.

Random App Ideas
I randomly come up with app ideas and usually write them down in my notebook. Sometimes I feel like sharing my many different ideas with the world so that I am forced to come up with even better ideas.
I know of many types of app, but I haven't heard of these types yet. And I deleted just one idea that I decided to start working on right now. To be shown later. =b

- Screen share mobile-to-mobile
- Permanent Clipboard
- StumbleUpon Mobile App version
- Facebook without Facebook app - basically pull Fb data to a Contacts app and include messages
- Range [distance] Finder using camera, or sound, or shadows
- App that creates real-world-value. Perhaps, something like a mobile version of Mechanical Turk or Bitcoin Generator et cetera.
- How-to guides for specific topics
- Connect game controllers to phones (wire, Bluetooth, built-in stand..)
- Fire-starter, possibly need hardware like capacitor to help generate a spark
- Taser app, extended from above. Or just use vibrate and fake sounds.
- Log everything app
- 3D Where's Waldo or 3D iSpy or 3D Highlights. Instead of just finding everything on screen you must orientate the phone different ways to pan around (or just allow touch scrolling)
- Find Ghosts game app, extended from above. To be played in an open field. Can only see ghosts when looking through phone
I know of many types of app, but I haven't heard of these types yet. And I deleted just one idea that I decided to start working on right now. To be shown later. =b
