"No reason" is not always "no reason"

Think about that for a little bit,

"no reason" is not always "no reason".

Have you ever given the reason or excuse, "no reason"?

At first it seems like a simple phrase that could just be expanded to, "for no reason at all".

But, if you care to think about it a little more, then there are actually two different ways to interpret "no reason", like so:

1. Arbitrarily, no reason...
2. Because, no reason...

This has the potential to have significant implications depending on its use case. The first interpretation is the more literal definition that really does mean zero (0) reasons. The second interpretation is the more exciting definition that allows for spontaneity.

Now, how does this help you, the reader?

Honesty, I'm not sure that this knowledge helps you with any practical applications in life. Examples are hard to come by because just about all the "no reason" excuses/reasons could be purposeful or not. It just depends on the person and their conviction/confidence.

The Basic Laws Of Human Stupidity by Carlo M. Cipolla

According to Carlo M. Cipolla, there are five basic laws surrounding human stupidity.

I just learned about these laws within the past week. And I especially liked the definition of stupid for the third basic law.

1. Always and inevitably everyone underestimates the number of stupid individuals in circulation.
2. The probability that a certain person will be stupid is independent of any other characteristic of that person.
3. A stupid person is a person who causes losses to another person or to a group of persons while himself deriving no gain and even possibly incurring losses.
4. Non-stupid people always underestimate the damaging power of stupid individuals. In particular non-stupid people constantly forget that at all times and places and under any circumstances to deal and/or associate with stupid people always turns out to be a costly mistake.
5. A stupid person is the most dangerous type of person.

As a bonus, here is a TEDx video titled, "Think Stupid" which talks about stupidity and creativity and how they are both related. Ex: Some people can come up with "stupid" ideas that I never would have thought of.

Define Touch, Define Contact

Via Google and other dictionaries and sources...

Touch (n): An act of bringing a part of one's body, typically one's hand, into contact with someone or something. (v) Come so close to (an object) as to be or come into contact with it.

Contact (n): The state or condition of physical touching.

Seem circular enough?

Now, I will try to present another definition of touch and contact.
 - The state where objects have overlapping electron probability clouds.
     -  This definition can be refined over time, to include at "90%" probability maybe (definitely not at 100%).
